I taught the plan of happiness in seminary today and a few things stuck out in my mind:
1. As much as I want to understand what happens in life, or what doesn't happen that I want to happen, I might not in this life. I really truly might have to wait until that day when I can sit with Jesus and talk to Him. Man that will be hard. I think I need to distract myself with other things to keep my mind off those thoughts and fears and unhappenings in life that keep creeping in.
2. I forget how unresponsive teenagers are in the morning.
3. I need to encourage my students to not be afraid of getting a wrong answer. I want them to know that they will only learn by asking and studying. When I was younger (and sometimes even now) I didn't answer questions because I was afraid to get the wrong answer and I regret that. I would have learned so much more.
4. The plan of happiness is for EVERYONE. The friendly neighbor across the street, your boss, your friend, YOU. That is so incredible. I wonder what the world would be like if everyone understood that they once stood with God and made the choice to follow His plan and to follow Christ, which is why they are here on the earth.
5. I learned that remembering to bring the DVD helps your lesson go much smoother. And a little preparation.
6. I learned (more remembered) how funny it is to watch older seminary videos. You have to really concentrate on what they are saying....and not at the goofy clothes you once thought were 'hot'.
7. My Savior loves me and wants the best for me. But it is up to me to make good choices.

too funny....yes the videos are interesting to watch now aren't they.
Those clothes are making a come back! Why must we repeat our fashion mistakes?
Great Learning! I totally agree about the clothes being distracting! We watched the crocodile one the other day! And teenagers have responsiveness issues at all times of day :)
good lessons. That is usually how it works, the teacher learns the most.
Wow, good for you! Glad you are learning and enjoying!
Seminary! You'll be learning and teaching every day of the week. Good luck.
I really laughed at the whole unresponsive thing. I can only imagine.
Good reminders for life. It is so true. Love the new house! How many seminary students are you teaching?
