pens

ah, don't you just love finding a great pen?  I was writing in my journal on Sunday and I was using a great pen...and then it ran out of ink!

I don't remember where I got the pen but it is a good one so I got a pack of four today, so I'm good for a while.  It is a Bic Velocity Gel.

I'm hoping that this great pen gets me excited and motivated to write in my journal more.  Silly, but whatever works!

Are you talking to me?

The other day Mike and I were listening to the news...or a podcast...one of them.  Anyway, we heard Obama speak and it just didn't sound sincere to me.  I realize they have speech writers (who probably don't get the credit they deserve) and I am sure they read their speeches a few times to prepare and know them well but it just doesn't sound sincere when they say it.  I just didn't connect with Obama when I heard him because it didn't sound like a regular friend-to-friend or neighbor-to-neighbor conversation.  It sounded too formal.  Now I realize also that they have to be careful what they say so having it written down and mostly reading it is 'safe' for them, but it just doesn't sound sincere.

Talk TO me...not AT me.

You are never alone

For anyone else needing comfort today like I am I thought this would be a good thing to share.

I had this poster on my wall when I was a teenager.  Every day before I left for school I would read it while looking at His face.  It really did bring me comfort and I still think about it often.

What I learned in seminary this morning

I taught the plan of happiness in seminary today and a few things stuck out in my mind:

1.  As much as I want to understand what happens in life, or what doesn't happen that I want to happen, I might not in this life.  I really truly might have to wait until that day when I can sit with Jesus and talk to Him.  Man that will be hard.  I think I need to distract myself with other things to keep my mind off those thoughts and fears and unhappenings in life that keep creeping in.

2.  I forget how unresponsive teenagers are in the morning.

3.  I need to encourage my students to not be afraid of getting a wrong answer.  I want them to know that they will only learn by asking and studying.  When I was younger (and sometimes even now) I didn't answer questions because I was afraid to get the wrong answer and I regret that.  I would have learned so much more.

4.  The plan of happiness is for EVERYONE.  The friendly neighbor across the street, your boss, your friend, YOU.  That is so incredible.  I wonder what the world would be like if everyone understood that they once stood with God and made the choice to follow His plan and to follow Christ, which is why they are here on the earth.

5.  I learned that remembering to bring the DVD helps your lesson go much smoother.  And a little preparation.

6.  I learned (more remembered) how funny it is to watch older seminary videos.  You have to really concentrate on what they are saying....and not at the goofy clothes you once thought were 'hot'.

7.  My Savior loves me and wants the best for me.  But it is up to me to make good choices.

we are here

We have moved and are slowly unpacking boxes.  The only monumental things that have made things interesting are:

1.  The movers broke our computer desk.  We aren't that sad as it is too big for the room we want to put it in at the new house.

2.  We couldn't find our utensils for 5 days.  Thank goodness for plastic.

3.  We still don't have a washer and dryer.  It was ordered and shipped but they don't know where it is.  So they ordered another one.  I sure hope it comes soon.  Thank goodness for nice neighbors who are letting me do laundry at their house today.

We love the new house and I love only working three days a week!

We also love that we have visitors coming the next two weekends.  Thank you!
